We’re excited to share insights from our first on-site mission in Jordan, from November 5th to 10th, for the project “Preparing a Hazardous Waste Reference and National Plan.” This mission marked a vital step toward establishing a comprehensive hazardous waste management system in close cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, alongside our partners MAEC.
During this mission, we joined the launch event for the Circularity Hub for Spent EV Batteries, underscoring Jordan’s commitment to sustainable battery lifecycle management. Our journey continued with site visits, including the Swaqa Hazardous Waste Landfill and CleanCity’s incinerator and e-waste recycling facility in Al Ghabawi, to understand the local infrastructure and identify areas for strengthening.
A key highlight was the kick-off working session with the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Health, facilitated by GIZ Jordan, SoWas Project (Salua Moussawel), and strongly supported by local partners MAEC. This collaborative groundwork will shape Jordan’s hazardous waste strategies, empowering local stakeholders and aligning with sustainable waste practices.
We are looking forward to the next stages of this impactful project, laying the foundations for a greener and safer Jordan! 🌍♻️
